Stephen Crean, 61, showed extraordinary bravery when he confronted a knife-wielding attacker during the Huntingdon train incident last week. He placed himself between the assailant and other passengers, sustaining multiple knife wounds while enabling others to escape safely.
"I grabbed his arm to stop him getting to the others until I knew everyone was safe," Mr Crean told the BBC.
Crean suffered serious injuries, including seven stab wounds to his hand, back, and head. Despite these injuries, which left him unable to travel, Ryanair has declined to refund his ticket to Austria. He had planned to fly there to watch his team, Nottingham Forest, compete against SK Strum Graz.
"All Ryanair air fares are non-refundable, which is why we strongly recommend passengers take out travel insurance in order to protect themselves if they can’t travel," the airline stated.
Philip Chambers, a friend of Crean’s, condemned the airline’s decision, calling it "shocking."
Ryanair denied a refund to passenger Stephen Crean, who was injured saving others from a knife attack on a train, leaving him unable to fly to Austria.
