Huntingdon Train Attack Survivor Honors Hero Passenger

Astrid, 19, a survivor of the Huntingdon train knife attack, commended fellow passenger Stephen Crean for bravely positioning himself between her and the attacker during the incident on Saturday night.

Details of the Incident

Astrid was traveling alone on an LNER train from Doncaster to London when chaos erupted as a knifeman began stabbing passengers. She was headed toward the buffet car, where many others were hiding, when Stephen Crean, a 61-year-old Nottingham Forest fan, intervened.

Crean, armed only with his fists, stood his ground between Astrid and the fast-approaching assailant, allowing her to slip safely into the buffet carriage moments after Crean was attacked with the knife.

"My life could have been so different without his courageous action."

Legal Action

Anthony Williams, 32, was charged with 11 counts of attempted murder relating to this attack and an earlier incident in London.
