Supreme Court of Canada Clears Way for Ostrich Cull
The Supreme Court of Canada dismissed the last-ditch appeal opposing the cull of ostriches at the Universal Ostrich Farm in Edgewood, B.C. This ruling removes any legal barriers, allowing the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to proceed with the complete depopulation of the flock.

Supporters of the farm gathered in a prayer circle as co-owner Dave Bilinski announced the Supreme Court's decision.
“Maybe a miracle will happen yet,” said Bilinski.
One protester labeled the CFIA as "criminals" and expressed intentions to leave Canada, while another described the ruling as "disgusting." The group then prayed for a “miracle Thursday.”

Supporters arrived early at the farm, with vehicles coming in before dawn despite heavy rain. Pasitney, one of the supporters, vowed to make it her “life's mission” to change CFIA operations after the ruling.
“It’s murdering, murdering healthy animals that have been 35 years on this planet,” she said, referring to the CFIA's plans.
