A video capturing a tense moment at the Miss Universe 2025 event has gone viral. Contestants walked out following a public confrontation between the host nation Thailand's official and Miss Mexico.
At a pre-pageant ceremony, Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil criticized Fatima Bosch for failing to post required promotional content. When she protested, Nawat called security and threatened to disqualify anyone supporting her. Ms. Bosch then left the room, and others followed in solidarity.
“Make anyone who wants to continue the contest, sit down. If you step out, the rest of the girls continue.”
The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) condemned Nawat's "malicious" behavior, for which he has since apologized.
The contestants, winners of national pageants, attended the event wearing their sashes and gowns. The video shows some contestants shouting at Nawat after he raised his voice at Ms. Bosch and repeatedly told her to stop talking.
Despite Nawat’s warnings, most of the women stood and eventually walked out together. After leaving, Ms. Bosch told the media that the 60-year-old executive was not "respectful" and said he called her "dumb."
The walkout at Miss Universe 2025 highlighted tensions after the Thailand director publicly rebuked Miss Mexico, prompting widespread contestant support and condemnation from the organization.
