They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
On Remembrance Sunday, 9 November, services and parades will take place across Angus, alongside the laying of wreaths to honour all who gave their lives defending our freedoms.
Please, if you have not already planned to do so and you are able, I would encourage you to join others in your community at one of these important events and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
If you cannot attend a service, take a quiet moment during your day to reflect and remember the fallen—alone, or with family and friends.
Tuesday is 11 November – Armistice Day – which gives us another chance to pay our respects. At 11 a.m., whether you are at home or at work, pause and observe two minutes of silence to honour the selflessness and courage of our Armed Services.
We must and will continue to remember them. Our gratitude also extends to the servicemen and women who still defend our nation, both at home and abroad. As they protect us, we stand by them.
These past years have brought uncertain times, with the reality of war shown to us constantly through modern media.
