As Bam Adebayo’s MRI looms, Heat returns home hoping for good news: ‘We just got to wait and see’

As Bam Adebayo’s MRI Looms, Heat Returns Home Hoping for Good News

The Miami Heat and their star center Bam Adebayo find themselves in a tense wait-and-see situation. Late Wednesday night, after a week-long four-game trip, players and coaches packed up at Ball Arena in Denver and flew back home uneasy—not because of another loss, but because of uncertainty about their captain’s health.

Miami had just fallen 122-112 to the Denver Nuggets, finishing the road trip 1-3 and dropping to 4-4 for the season. However, the mood in the locker room turned somber when Adebayo left the game late in the first quarter with a left foot injury and did not return.

“We don’t know right now. It’s his left foot, so we’ll find out more [Thursday],” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said after the game when asked about Adebayo’s condition.

Adebayo, a three-time All-Star and central figure in the Heat lineup, is scheduled for an MRI in Miami on Thursday to assess the seriousness of the injury.

“We’ll figure it out. Get more tests [Thursday] and then see how it goes,” Adebayo said while standing at his locker.

Whether he will play in the upcoming back-to-back games at Kaseya Center is highly uncertain. Miami begins its four-game homestand with its first in-season tournament matchup Friday night against the Charlotte Hornets, followed by a contest against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.
