Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin and Media Groups Host Webinar on Ethical Victim Reporting

Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin, together with the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and the Wisconsin Newspaper Association, will hold an online seminar dedicated to ethical standards in media when covering stories involving crime victims.

The webinar will highlight insights from the National Center for Victims of Crime (NCVC) guide for journalists. Participants will learn about ethical ways to engage with victims, strategies to maintain their privacy, and guidance on telling survivor stories responsibly while achieving a constructive outcome for both journalists and victims.

“The session will also connect these practices to Wisconsin’s constitutional amendment for crime victims’ rights – known as Marsy’s Law – which ensures key protections such as privacy, notice, and participation in the justice process.”
