A pattern shift brings the season’s first blast of cold air to Marquette, Michigan.
Tonight, light rain will move from west to east by tomorrow morning. Scattered lake effect rain showers will persist through midday, transitioning to light lake effect snow showers in the northwest belts. Minor snow accumulations of a quarter to half an inch are expected.
This weekend will bring our first cold air blast, caused by a deep trough in the jet stream moving into the Upper Midwest alongside cold Canadian air. A low-pressure system will accompany this shift, resulting in the first accumulating snow of the season on Sunday. Light lake effect snow will affect the northern and northwest wind belts, with a 20-50% chance in the north central Upper Peninsula.
A TV6 First Alert Weather Day will be in effect Sunday due to slushy and slippery conditions.
Lake-effect snow showers will continue into Monday.
