Wolves Academy players have been honoring those who served from the club’s heritage ahead of Remembrance Sunday. Last Friday, the under-12 team planted a tree at Compton Park to commemorate Wolves players who fought in both World Wars.
Vicar Anne Martin attended the event while the children read aloud names of the fallen and a poem expressing their sentiments on Remembrance. This reflective moment concluded a week filled with educational activities tied to Remembrance.
This effort is aligned with the Premier League’s annual Christmas Day truce campaign, giving young players a meaningful connection to history at this reflective time of year.
Natalie Deakin, head of education at Wolves Academy, said: “It's really important that we're looking after them as potential players, but also nice, super rounded people. That's really important to us and the boys have worked really hard on this project."
These activities not only pay tribute but help shape thoughtful individuals alongside their development as players.
Author’s summary: Wolves Academy’s remembrance activities provide young players a heartfelt tribute to history while fostering personal growth and community spirit.
