India secured a 48-run victory over Australia in the fourth T20I, gaining a 2-1 lead in the five-match series held in Queensland on Thursday.
Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, India posted a total of 167/8. Captain Shubman Gill led the innings with a top score of 46 runs. Key contributions also came from Abhishek Sharma, who scored 28, Shivam Dube with 22, and captain Suryakumar Yadav adding 20 runs.
In reply, Australia was bowled out for 119 in the penultimate over. Mitchell Marsh was the top scorer for Australia with a 24-ball 30.
The pitch appeared somewhat tricky, but still offered opportunities to score. Indian spinner trio Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar played a crucial role in controlling the Australian batting, benefiting from the long boundaries and the ball gripping the surface.
"The Aussies have the firepower to chase down the target, but the Indian bowlers have the tools to neutralize their explosive batting unit."
Arshdeep Singh started the bowling, aiming to challenge Australia's openers Matthew Short and Mitchell Marsh, who looked to set a strong foundation for the innings.
Axar Patel’s all-round performance was key in India’s win, combining effective bowling and support in the field to help India take control of the series.
Axar Patel's impactful all-round display powered India to a commanding 48-run win, shifting momentum in their favor in the T20I series against Australia.
