The White Lotus actress Aimee Lou Wood described Los Angeles as an “emotionally bulimic” city, sharing a comparison grounded in her experience with the eating disorder.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar before receiving the Television Actress award at the Women of the Year ceremony, Wood called Hollywood a “super-sized adventure.”
“I find LA emotionally bulimic, and I say that as an ex-bulimic. It is this super-sized adventure where everyone’s talking about you all the time and you have to talk about yourself all the time. And then I leave, and I want to throw it all up.”
Reflecting on the sudden changes after the show’s February release, Wood noted:
“Before it came out, everyone told me my life was going to change because the show is American, and it’s so big.”
Aimee Lou Wood portrays LA as a thrilling yet emotionally overwhelming place, shaped by intense social scrutiny and public exposure that challenge her personally and professionally.
