Fans are experiencing the first impressions of the enhanced Xbox Cloud Gaming, with videos showing demanding open-world games like The Witcher 3 streaming smoothly at 1440p resolution. This improved performance is available through the higher-priced Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, delivering quality close to some GeForce Now plans.
Subscribers need the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier, costing $29.99 per month, to access 1440p streaming quality. The Essential and Premium plans also offer cloud gaming but at lower resolutions and with longer waiting times.
Jez Corden from Windows Central demonstrated that “Xcloud may become an appealing alternative to Nvidia GeForce Now” with the upgrades.
Despite criticism over recent Xbox Game Pass price increases, the superior streaming quality might encourage gamers to retain their subscriptions. However, currently only a limited selection of games supports the enhanced streaming performance.
The upgraded Xbox Cloud Gaming offers a significant boost in streaming quality at 1440p/60fps, making it a competitive alternative to GeForce Now for Ultimate subscribers.
