The ASEAN Secretary-General held a pull-aside meeting with the Minister of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia. The discussions underscored ASEAN’s ongoing efforts to advance regional cooperation and to support the realization of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, with emphasis on collaboration in transport and infrastructure development among member states and with external partners.
ASEAN operates as a coordinated Secretariat-driven platform to facilitate decision-making within ASEAN bodies and to foster dialogues and partnerships with dialogue partners, international organizations, and non-ASEAN countries. The ASEAN Community is structured around three pillars: Political-Security, Economic, and Socio-Cultural, with strategic plans implemented through officially endorsed blueprints and post-2015 visions that guide regional integration and external engagement.
ASEAN’s roadmap has evolved from the 2009 Community framework through to the launch of the three-pillar ASEAN Community in 2015, followed by the ASEAN 2025 Vision. These milestones anchor ongoing efforts to deepen regional integration and enhance cooperation across political-security, economic, and socio-cultural domains.
“The Secretary-General and the ASEAN Secretariat shall be functioned as coordinating Secretariat to help facilitate effective decision-making within and amongst ASEAN bodies.”
The interaction with Cambodia’s Minister of Public Works and Transport reflects ongoing practical engagement in core areas such as infrastructure development, transport policy, and cross-border connectivity, aligning with ASEAN’s broader objectives to strengthen regional resilience and sustainable growth.
ASEAN continues to emphasize coordinated diplomacy and practical cooperation, illustrated by high-level meetings that advance transport, infrastructure, and regional integration under the ASEAN Community framework.
