Funding for Anticipated Redistricting Session Approved
Kansas lawmakers met on Monday to approve legislative budgets for the upcoming session.
A $400,000 item from the State General Fund, along with $60,000 for licensing costs, was approved to cover the anticipated special session for redistricting the state's legislative voting districts.
Republican leadership just appropriated $460,000 from the state general fund for a redistricting special session that Kansans are not calling for.
Senate Minority Leader Dinah Sykes, a Democrat, condemned Republican leadership for wasting taxpayer money on a "political stunt", stating that they are not focused on the issues that Kansans care about.
