Chicago Youth Explore Science with Space Explorers

Since 1991, the University of Chicago's Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics has connected Chicago Public Schools students with world-class astronomers and physicists.

The Space Explorers program, run by the Kavli Institute, initially focused on cosmology but has broadened to various areas of science, allowing students to explore different interests.

Students participate in challenges such as launching model rockets, building model boats, creating mousetrap cars, and the classic egg drop, learning open-ended problem-solving skills.

The program's essence is about immersing students in challenges, tweaking designs, and learning a new kind of problem-solving.
