Baltimore Man Arrested After Vehicle and Foot Pursuit
A Baltimore man is in police custody following a vehicle and foot pursuit on Interstate 395 northbound.
Rashad Smith has been charged with:
- Felony eluding
- Felony hit and run
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
According to Virginia State Police, the pursuit started when a trooper attempted to stop Smith, who had previously eluded an Alexandria City Police Department officer.
The suspect vehicle exited I-395 at Shirlington Circle and continued on Arlington Mill Drive to South Randolph Street, where it struck another vehicle. Smith then abandoned his vehicle in a nearby parking garage and attempted to flee on foot.
With the assistance of Arlington County Police and Alexandria City Police, Smith was captured a short time later.
