Hundreds of residents have left their homes due to the storm caused by ex-typhoon Halong.
Darrell John, a resident of Kipnuk, was forced to flee his home of 20 years with his family after rising floodwaters destroyed their house and belongings.
“Everything is gone,”
John said, having lost his home, boat, snowmachines, and freezer full of subsistence foods. Many families were trapped in their homes as they floated away, but miraculously, no one from Kipnuk died.
