A University of Houston biology student played a crucial role in a significant finding by MD Anderson Cancer Center researchers, revealing that the COVID vaccine can enhance immunotherapy treatment effectiveness, offering new hope to cancer patients globally.
According to research presented at the 2025 European Society for Medical Oncology Congress, patients who received mRNA-based COVID vaccines within 100 days of starting immunotherapy were twice as likely to be alive three years after treatment as those who didn’t receive the vaccine.
