Carilion Clinic has surpassed its $105M fundraising goal for its Roanoke cancer center and launched a new $50M proton therapy campaign.
According to Nancy Howell Agee, the health system's CEO emeritus, the initial fundraising goal was met with skepticism by a consultant, who predicted a maximum of $50 million.
"The consultant did what consultants do … and they came back to us and they said, essentially, 'Good luck with that. The most we think you could possibly do is $50 million,'"
The health system plans to bring proton therapy to Roanoke. Author's summary: Carilion Clinic exceeds fundraising goal.
