The Sopranos' Alternative Main Theme Song
The Sopranos has a nearly perfect opening title sequence, following Tony Soprano as he drives through New Jersey.
Accompanied by Alabama 3's "Woke Up This Morning", the sequence is iconic.
However, creator David Chase initially wanted a different song, by Elvis Costello, which would have explicitly laid out the show's themes.
It would have been a terrible choice
Luckily, Chase chose the soulful techno track "Woke Up This Morning" instead.
The show's opening sequence is now considered one of the best in television history.
