West Virginia broke its five-game losing streak by defeating No. 22 Houston on the road, securing Rich Rodriguez's first ranked win since his return.
The Mountaineers, led by true freshman quarterback Scotty Fox Jr., carried over momentum from their previous game against TCU, resulting in their first Big 12 win.
"Good to have a happy locker room," Rodriguez said. "I was like 'Where's this been?' It's been there. We just had to put it all together."
With this win, WVU stands at 1-5 in the Big 12 and 3-6 overall, while Houston is now 7-2 and likely to be dropped from the AP Top 25.
