Despite improved car-buying steps, the overall Ease of Purchase score fell to 85% in October, according to CDK Global's Ease of Purchase index.
The score slightly slipped from 89% in September and August, but survey respondents reported that nearly all individual steps of the car-buying process improved.
Dealerships experienced a slight increase in pull-ahead purchases in early October, despite federal tax incentives for electric vehicles expiring on September 30.
The 2026 model year, with slightly higher prices due to tariffs, was slowly introduced into dealer inventory.
