Election Day in New York: What's Open and Closed
Election Day is a state holiday in New York, resulting in the closure of state and local government buildings.
Despite the closure of government offices, the Long Island Rail Road and mass transit will operate on a normal schedule.
Employee Voting Rights
According to the Time Off to Vote Notice (New York State Election Law Section 3-110), employees can take up to two hours off without loss of pay to vote if they don't have time to attend the polls during their shift.
