Aimee Lou Wood shared that she struggled with body dysmorphia while filming bikini scenes as her character Chelsea in the third season of HBO’s acclaimed series The White Lotus. The 31-year-old actress opened up about the experience in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
“I shook myself out of it by thinking, ‘It’s not about whether Aimee wants to show her body or not – Chelsea does.’”
Wood explained that embodying Chelsea—an optimistic and spiritually minded character—helped her find confidence through her role. She said the boundary between her and Chelsea began to blur, allowing her to channel the character’s self-assurance in real life.

The actress recalled being told that the popular HBO series would change her life, as it brought her new opportunities and frequent trips to Los Angeles for work and media engagements. However, she admitted that the Hollywood atmosphere was not entirely appealing to her.
“I find LA emotionally bulimic, and I say that as an ex-bulimic. It’s this super-sized adventure where everyone’s talking about you all the time and you have to talk about yourself all the time.”
