A group of neighbors in Brookmans Park, Hertfordshire, England, collectively won $1.3 million through the People's Postcode Lottery. Their postal code, AL9 6PT, was announced as the winner of the Millionaire Street prize in the latest weekly draw.
The £1 million prize (approximately $1.3 million) was divided between seven residents who held tickets through the lottery's monthly subscription. Each ticket was valued at around £83,333 ($109,000).
Samesh Kumari, a retired fashion firm owner, received the largest share of £249,999 ($328,000) due to holding three tickets. He took out a subscription in honor of his late mother, Chanchal Kumari, just four months prior.
“I think mum would be really proud. I'm not sure I did, but she was right. I've only been playing for about four months. To have won so quickly is amazing. When I signed up, I was thinking about mum. This is extra special.”
Samesh dedicated his winnings to the memory of his mother.
