Kyle Bevan was serving a life sentence at HMP Wakefield for the murder of his stepdaughter. Earlier this week, three men were charged following Bevan's death in his prison cell.
Bevan, 33, was found dead at 8:25 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5. West Yorkshire Police confirmed that Mark Fellows, 45, Lee Newell, 56, and David Taylor, 63, have been charged with his murder. All three men have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court.
On April 4, 2023, Bevan was convicted at Swansea Crown Court for killing his two-year-old stepdaughter, Lola James. He received a life sentence with a minimum of 28 years to serve.
Bevan inflicted "catastrophic" brain injuries on Lola at the family home in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, in the early hours of July 17, 2020. Lola died in hospital four days later.
Lola’s mother, Sinead James, was also found guilty of causing or allowing her daughter's death and was sentenced to six years in prison.
The court heard that Bevan denied harming Lola, claiming the family dog pushed her down the stairs. During the trial, it was revealed that Bevan and James met on Facebook in February 2020, and Bevan moved into the family home shortly thereafter.
