Work has begun this week on the Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer, a project described as the largest Christian monument in the United Kingdom. The monument’s structure takes the form of a massive white infinity loop, inspired by a Möbius strip and built from one million bricks.
Standing 51.5 meters (169 feet) tall with a diameter of 80 meters (262 feet), the wall symbolizes eternity by having no beginning and no end. It incorporates interactive technology that lets visitors use a mobile app to point a phone at any brick and hear or watch the personal story behind an answered prayer.
Funding for the project has reportedly reached £40 million (about $52 million USD), with completion planned for 2028. Development and updates continue to draw attention from faith communities and supporters worldwide.
“The news is out there,” announced a post from the Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer account. “After 20 years, we break ground this week on Eternal Wall. The 51-metre high landmark will contain a million bricks, each telling a story of answered prayer. We couldn’t have got this far without the 20,000 people who have backed this vision to make hope visible!”
The concept was originated two decades ago by marketing consultant Richard Gamble after a period of prayer and reflection. Over time, he assembled a dedicated team, secured planning approval, and chose a site between the M6 and M42 motorways on the outskirts of Birmingham.
“The waiting is over!” said Gamble. “Thank you, Jesus.”
The Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer, now under construction near Birmingham, will rise as a monumental Christian landmark built from one million story-bearing bricks, uniting faith, art, and technology.
