Police Investigate Sexual Assault Report in Welland
A woman was sexually assaulted during a late-night attack in Welland, according to Niagara Regional Police.
The incident occurred around midnight in the area of Woodlawn Road and Clare Avenue. The victim, who was out for a walk, approached a man and asked him a question. The man then assaulted her and attempted to drag her into a nearby wooded area.
The woman managed to access her phone, which caused the suspect to stop the assault, allowing her to escape. The suspect is described as being of Middle Eastern descent and speaking with a heavy accent.
The victim said she asked the male suspect a question, after which he assaulted her and tried dragging her into the woods.
Police are currently searching for the suspect.
