Why I Still Love Newspapers
I am a week late in discussing this topic because I wanted to share my experiences of being in Iraq 20 years ago with the brave men and women of Georgia's 48th Brigade Combat Team and my encounter with an IED.
Last week was National Newspaper Week, which holds personal significance for me. As a columnist, I have the privilege of sharing my thoughts with readers each week, thanks to the editors, and then receiving feedback on those thoughts.
With nearly three decades of experience, I have formed meaningful connections with regular readers, despite never having met them in person. You, the readers, have been with me through both good and challenging times, offering constructive criticism when needed and confirming that my column is being read through your responses to errors or inaccuracies.
I have the best job in the world.
