The City of Memphis has released new data showing the Memphis Police Department made 1,217 arrests in the first four weeks of the Memphis Safe Task Force's surge.
According to the data, 699 of these arrests were for misdemeanor charges, while 518 were for felony charges.
"This is new," said Mayor Paul Young. "We still have our dashboard for the city, it still exists, but this is a new document that we're going to provide on a daily basis during this surge."
The data also reveals that serious offenses, including murders, aggravated assaults, and robberies, remained in the hundreds throughout 2024, but show a different pattern in 2025.
The mayor believes that releasing this data provides context surrounding the Memphis Police Department's work before and during the task force's arrival.
