Power Mostly Restored in Burlington and Sedro-Woolley
A car crash on Saturday morning caused heavy damage to transformers, leading to a power outage affecting thousands of residents in Burlington and Sedro-Woolley.
According to Puget Sound Energy, more than 5,400 customers lost power, with over 1,000 still without power in Sedro-Woolley as of 1 p.m.
A motor vehicle crash around 7 a.m. at Wicker Road and Fruitdale Road likely led to the large power outage, according to Sedro-Woolley police.
- Multiple transformers sustained heavy damage, causing an extended delay in restoring power.
- Police extracted the passengers of the vehicle and led them away from the scene.
- Traffic lights were also affected by the outage, with some intersections having battery-powered lights and others not.
Power was estimated to be restored to the remaining customers around 2:30 p.m., according to PSE.
