As the government shutdown stretches into its 27th day, Kentucky families who depend on federal food benefits are growing anxious about what could come next.
Families across Kentucky are worried about losing their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in November.
“I have been receiving SNAP benefits for one year now,” said Desirae Pierson. “They help by keeping food on the table for me and my children while I’m in school pursuing my degree.
Pierson, a resident of Louisville, is making difficult choices due to the possibility of losing her SNAP benefits.
