Another Georgia lawmaker is stepping down, bringing to four the number of vacancies in the House and Senate.
Marcus Wiedower, R-Watkinsville, announced his resignation after six years in the House due to his company's rapid growth, which will require more travel and take him away from the Capitol during the legislative session.
“While I!m stepping away from elected office, I look forward to remaining actively involved in our community and continuing to help tackle Georgia’s most pressing challenges, especially attainable housing through my work at Hillpointe,”
he said. Wiedower works at Hillpointe, a real estate development and investment management firm headquartered in Winter Park, Fla.
