The Los Angeles County Fire Department has ordered two additional S-70i Firehawk firefighting helicopters from Sikorsky.
In a year marked by devastating wildfires, the County's Fire Department is expanding its fleet of firefighting aircraft. The new helicopters will join the existing fleet of five Sikorsky S-70s and three Bell 412s.
"The Firehawk helicopter has been the cornerstone of our aerial firefighting capability for more than two decades," noted Anthony C. Marrone, Fire Chief for the County of Los Angeles.
The order was announced by Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky's parent company, on October 29, 2025.
