Woody Harrelson has dismissed the possibility of returning to True Detective, contrary to his co-star Matthew McConaughey's openness to the idea.
During an appearance on NBC's 3rd Hour of Today, Harrelson stated that revisiting the series is "not a chance" because the original season "turned out great" and he doesn't want to risk diminishing its legacy.

His comments respond to original showrunner Nic Pizzolatto's earlier revelation of having an idea for a new story involving Rust Cohle and Marty Hart, played by Matthew McConaughey and Harrelson in the first season.
