Deutsche Telekom Prepares for Open RAN Expansion
Deutsche Telekom is taking a step-by-step approach to Open RAN, with plans to deploy over 3,000 Open RAN sites by the end of next year.
The company's senior VP of RAN disaggregation and enablement, Thomas Lips, announced that Deutsche Telekom will issue a request for quotation (RFQ) document for 30,000 radio access network (RAN) sites in early 2026, with Open RAN as part of the plan.
Thomas Lips discussed the telco's Open RAN progress at Fyuz 2025, alongside industry experts from AT&T, Vodafone, and others.
