Democrats have made gains in both the Suffolk and Nassau County Legislatures, unseating a Republican incumbent in Suffolk and claiming an open seat in Nassau.
“In Suffolk County, when we get knocked down, we get right back up and we’re ready to fight,” said Suffolk Democratic chairman Richard Schaffer.
No other incumbents were ousted in either county, although results were not yet conclusive in Nassau's 9th district.
