McDonald's Seeks to Extend Opening Hours on Newmarket Road, Cambridge
A McDonald's branch on busy Newmarket Road in Cambridge has applied to extend its opening hours, aiming to open from 6am to 11pm every day. Currently, the restaurant operates from 7am to 11pm daily.
Savills, representing McDonald's, submitted the application despite two prior refusals. They emphasize the additional hour in the morning would not negatively affect local residents, citing that nearby businesses have varied trading times.
“For example, Papa Johns is open until 3am each day of the week. This application simply seeks to extend the trading hours by an additional hour from that which is currently approved. We therefore anticipate that the proposal is entirely acceptable in terms of the extra hour of operation in the early morning trading period as no complaints have been received.”
According to Savills, most of the customers visit during the early morning, and extending opening times could bring economic benefits.
