Why Frustrated Boomers Are the Senior Living Industry’s Biggest Potential Disruptors

If they don’t succeed, the boomers may build those models for themselves. Last weekend, an interesting Wall Street Journal article detailed the ways aging boomers are creating their own destinies with regard to housing.

Limited in what they can afford, some boomers in their 60s and 70s are pooling their resources and creating their own senior housing. This concept, known as senior cohousing, has been on the minds of many older Americans for decades.

For example, the TV show The Golden Girls depicted older women living together under one roof in the 1980s.

Boomers may build their own models if senior living operators don't succeed.
