Democrats Win New Jersey Governorship
The Democratic Party has retained the New Jersey governorship, with governor-elect Mikie Sherrill defeating Republican Jack Ciattarelli.
Polls had narrowed in the final stretch, prompting aggressive tactics from both parties. Sherrill accused Ciattarelli of spreading "misinformation" about opiates, claiming it "kill[ed] tens of thousands of people in New Jersey, including children".
Despite a lack of evidence, the Democratic National Committee invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in the state, adding to the $3 million already committed.
